Amy Sins

Crisis-Tested Leadership Speaker, Business Leader & Humanitarian

From Katrina to Global Stages

Amy Sins is a New Orleans native whose life changed forever on August 29, 2005. When Hurricane Katrina flooded her home, she lost nearly everything she owned. But amid the devastation, Amy found her calling.

What began as a “girl with a cell phone” coordinating local relief grew into leading international disaster response missions — from the Maui wildfires to Louisiana floods, from Afghanistan evacuations to the war in Ukraine. Along the way, she discovered that the same frameworks that save lives in crisis zones also help businesses and communities thrive in uncertainty.

A Life Built on Resilience and Reinvention

Amy’s career began in hospitality, where she mastered the art of creating connection through food and culture. An award-winning New Orleans chef and author, she learned how to bring people together, build trust quickly, and adapt when things didn’t go as planned.

After Katrina, those same skills translated into crisis leadership. Amy went from reopening restaurants and reviving neighborhoods to coordinating humanitarian aid, mobilizing volunteers, and building networks that respond when chaos strikes. Her nonprofit, Fill the Needs, has connected thousands of people and organizations in times of disaster.

From Disaster Zones to Boardrooms

Through two decades of disaster relief, Amy realized a universal truth: the skills that help communities recover are the same ones leaders need to navigate organizational chaos.

As a UN Global Platform presenter and TEDx speaker, Amy now brings those lessons to global stages. Her presentations blend Louisiana storytelling, humanitarian leadership, and practical frameworks that give leaders the confidence to act in uncertain times.

Audiences leave with more than inspiration—they walk away with actionable strategies for resilience, adaptive decision-making, and turning chaos into competitive advantage.

Today, Amy works at the intersection of community, leadership, and resilience. Whether she’s delivering a keynote to C-suite executives, facilitating a workshop for emerging leaders, or helping communities recover after disaster, she is known for her authenticity, energy, and ability to make complex challenges feel solvable.

Her mission has grown from personal survival to global impact: helping communities, leaders, and organizations not just survive the unexpected, but emerge stronger than before.
